Are you looking for a relatively large wedding venue? Do you need to accommodate a large group of wedding guests north of Alicante? Then a wedding Melia Villaitana – Benidorm just might be the place for you.

This wedding venue has good things going for it: the guests can book rooms in the hotel which saves your guests from being lost during travel from hotel to the venue. It also saves time. Small chance that people on the guest list will turn up late for the ceremony, no excuses! The Villaitana Levante Golf Course is par 72 and more than 6600 meters in length (Nicklaus design). Perfect for some pre wedding fun.

The quality of the weddings and the food has also been great. Non of my clients that have organised their wedding day at Melia Villaitana have been disappointed with the canapés during cocktail hour or the dishes served at the wedding dinner.

The dinning room, as you can see in the photos below, is decorated to a good standard and the in-house events manager or wedding planner can help you pimp the place to your heart’s content. The dinning room is certainly large enough to accommodate a large wedding group.

Outdoor wedding

If you are looking to have an outdoor wedding, Melia offers that option. They setup the wedding ceremony area outside overlooking the lush green golf courses. From this position you have a panoramic view of the skyscrapers of Benidorm in the distance. The Intempo building is the one that stands out the most. An amazing backdrop by any standards.

Indoor wedding

Spain has so many days of sun but there are some days that are not great. If due to unfavourable weather conditions the wedding ceremonies can be held indoors, then one floor up from the dinning room there is a ceremony area. The ceremony area has a red carpet which is a nice finish. I guess you could also have it rolled up if you don’t like to walk down the aisle on a red carpet.

The family group shots and the bride and groom shots can take place where the guests have the canapés but there are also other suitable areas.

Wedding entertainment can setup on the stage opposite the dinner area. And this is also the area for the couples first dance and where the wedding party takes place. But first it will be time to cut the wedding cake!

After the wedding newly weds often spend their honeymoon in the hotel. The hotel is not far from the coast. And the old town of Benidorm is not too far either.

Alicante wedding – the most romantic destination 

Many brides consider Spain as one of the most romantic places on earth to get married. Maybe you are considering a wedding in Alicante or thinking about having your wedding in the Torrevieja area? Follow along here and you might get some useful ideas about having a destination wedding here.

Great weather and very affordable food and drink is a huge advantage of a wedding in Spain. The scenery and backdrops are equally impressive. With many stunning areas, you can see why couples choose the breathtaking backdrop of Spain as their wedding destination. In this regard, Torrevieja and Orihuela Costa, just South of Alicante, are great as wedding ceremony locations. With a beautiful coastline, sandy beaches and promenades running parallel to the beaches, it’s perfect for a wedding and your guests.

There are plenty of hotels, panoramic beachfront venues and resorts here. They are complete with rooftop views overlooking the ocean. They also offer wedding services (like wedding coordinator/wedding planner, officiants, wedding cake, assistance with planning process, wedding photos). Most venues offer all inclusive wedding packages. For example the La Zenia hotel in La Zenia, Hotel Meridional in Guardamar or Restaurante Rebate in Campoverde have packages.

Choose the best romantic destination in Alicante

When it comes to wedding destinations, Alicante spoils you with choice. Yes, there are so many options here. You get to choose between stunning cities like Torrevieja and Orihuela. You will find resorts like Punta Prima restaurant (blog post), Orihuela Coast Resort and Montepiedra Hotel which are excellent wedding venues. With their views of the coast, and affordable services, you can choose any of these as your romantic wedding venue.

The choice of wedding reception and wedding locations is endless. Wedding photography

And last but not least the wedding photography. Getting married is a special event that just begs for the service of a professional photographer. Don’t fall for the trap of thinking that your ‘ free’ uncle John with an expensive camera will be there to have you photographed as make your entrance, when you walk down the aisle in your carefully chosen wedding dress, take your vows, cut the wedding cake, pose with the bridesmaids and bridal party or do the first dance with your hubby.  Not to make it more than it is, it is not a stress free job for the untrained and unconditioned hobbyist with a great camera. Things move fast and there is no second take. Maybe you think a family member ‘knows you best’ but there isn’t anything that a dialog between you and me can’t clear up before we start to plan the wedding shoot.

Conclusion having your wedding in the torrevieja area

Spain is a great country for a destination wedding. Less than 2,5 hours flight from London to Alicante, the many days of sun. There is very affordable food and drink, lots of accommodation possibilities and Catholic churches for a catholic wedding. Venues that have a wow factor and beautiful backdrops. The area of Alicante has endless types of venue for you to choose from in a variety of budgets and the language does not have to be a barrier (most event managers speak English).
